How to Review Old iPhone Photos Without Starting at the Newest

An old photo is not automatically an unwanted photo. Start from the older end of your library when you want to revisit a period rather than repeatedly reviewing the pictures you just took.
Set the review order
Choose Photos or Everything in Swipellio and use Older sorting. This is an order for the review queue, not a promise of a month-by-month album filing system. Newer, Largest and Shuffle are also available free if another approach suits the task better.
Choose a small task you can recognize
You might start by checking screenshots from an old trip or reviewing an earlier set of videos. Use the basic Screenshots or Videos mode when that is the material you want to see. Keeping the media type narrow can make it easier to know what you are deciding.
Look closely before deciding
Hold to zoom when a detail matters. A screenshot may contain information you still need, and a visually ordinary photo may be a memory worth keeping. Swipe right to keep, or left to set aside in the in-app Bin. Double tap immediately if you change your mind about the last swipe.
Do not force the whole library into one session
Basic swiping has no daily cap or cooldown, but that does not mean you must keep going. Finish a manageable review and check the Bin before removing anything. The useful outcome is a set of decisions you trust, not simply the largest deletion count.
If the old original is in iCloud
Older media may need loading from iCloud depending on what is available locally. Swipellio’s no-upload design does not mean every original is already on the device. Check the connection or choose locally available items if you are offline.

Check before deleting
A left swipe only moves the photo into the in-app Trash Bin. You can restore it until you empty the Bin; a double tap undoes the last swipe. After deleting from your library, check Recently Deleted in Photos too. Permanently deleting from there cannot be undone.
With iCloud Photos enabled, deleting also syncs to other devices on the same account. Keep a separate copy of important memories before permanently removing them.
