Edited Photos and iPhone Storage: What Removing the Original Changes

A photo you edited can have an original behind the current version. Removing that original is different from deleting an unwanted extra copy: it can remove the ability to go back to the unedited image.
Decide whether you still want to revert
Review the edited picture and think about future use. If you may want the original framing or appearance again, keep the original. A finished-looking edit is not proof that its source will never matter. Save a separate copy of an important original before making a permanent change.
What the Edited photos category does
Swipellio Quick Cleanup has an Edited photos category. It keeps the edit and removes the hidden original; Revert to Original stops working for those items. That is the central tradeoff. Do not treat this category as equivalent to normal manual photo cleanup.
How originals are handled
Quick Cleanup saves the kept copy and puts originals in the app’s Bin. A run is represented by one Bin card and can be restored as a whole before the Bin is emptied. Restoring brings originals back and removes the new copies. Review the outcome before ending that recovery option.
Eligibility and favorites
Favorites are excluded from Quick Cleanup categories, and eligibility is checked again when work runs. The summary describes a candidate category, not a guarantee that every edited photo will be processed. The category tools require Pro; scanning and the category summary can be inspected without it.
Check storage after the whole flow
Keeping originals temporarily still uses space. Emptying the app’s Bin is followed by the Recently Deleted stage in Apple Photos, and the system can take time to update. Estimated savings are not a measured result. Do not give up an original just to chase an estimate.

Check before deleting
A left swipe only moves the photo into the in-app Trash Bin. You can restore it until you empty the Bin; a double tap undoes the last swipe. After deleting from your library, check Recently Deleted in Photos too. Permanently deleting from there cannot be undone.
With iCloud Photos enabled, deleting also syncs to other devices on the same account. Keep a separate copy of important memories before permanently removing them.
